The Ozone Layer
The ozone layer keeps us safe by absorbing ultraviolet rays of the sun, almost like a layer of warm clothes protects us from the cold or a layer of sunscreen that protects our skin from the sun. Chlorofluorocarbons - commonly known as CFC gases - cause damage to the ozone layer and increase our exposure to ultraviolet rays which may cause cancer and cataracts. CFC gases are used for products such as styrofoam, spray-can propellants, some types of refrigerators and many more.
