Maybe one day you will complete a Master's thesis or a doctoral dissertation, and you will be expected to write an acknowledgement page at the beginning of your study. The purpose of this page is to acknowledge the contributions of people who helped to complete the study.
Students often express appreciation to family and friends that helped them do their research. If they received permission to use laboratory facilities or special equipment in their study, this should also be acknowledged.
