Which Words Should You Learn First?
Academic texts and research articles contain many English words. However, there are some words, like "analyze" and "data" that often appear in academic texts. These words appear on a list called the Academic Word List. These are the words which students in colleges and universities should learn first, together with the words that frequently appear in their specific discipline areas. The Academic Word List emphasizes words that frequently appear in academic texts in order to help students prioritize the vocabulary learning process.
