infer

Inferred means you reached a conclusion based on what you already know.

For example:

I know that people who love each other sometimes hold each other's hand. So when I saw Jack and Ann holding hands, I inferred that they love each other.

The writer did not say exactly what her attitude is to women's rights. We inferred her attitude from the words and examples she chose to use in her article.
