Recovering from the Tsunami

In December 2004 a tsunami caused a great deal of damage in Thailand. With the help of foreign aid, there was soon evidence of recovery. Hospitals and schools were rebuilt, roads were repaired, fishermen received financial help to repair their boats and tourism workers were encouraged to learn new skills. However, according to an official UN report, in October 2005 there were still many people living in shelters, the number of children with no parents had increased and over 8,000 people did not have jobs.
