Rejected means not to accept or not to agree to something.

Rejected can be used as a verb or adjective. In this exercise it is used as a verb.

For example:

The bank manager rejected John’s request to borrow money since she thought that John could not pay back the money.

The professor rejected the student's conclusions because they were not based on enough strong evidence.
