Classifying Animals

Part of a biologist’s job is to classify animals into groups. Categorizing animals according to similar size and color is problematic because these characteristics tend to differ from animal to animal in a particular group. Therefore, it would not be appropriate to put all animals similar in size and color into one group. The features which can provide the basis for classifying animals are the skeleton and teeth since these are the features that are most similar among all members of a particular group.
